A nursery in Ilkeston that was rated as ‘inadequate’ by government education inspectors at the start of the year has been praised for making improvements.
Little Steps Nursey in Summerfields Way, Shipley View received the below-par rating after an Ofsted inspection in January.
A follow-up monitoring inspection, the third this year, was carried out on June 26 and found that the nursery was now meeting the standards required.
The Ofsted inspector had previously raised concerns about the staff to child ratio.
The report states: “You have welcomed support from your local authority and have been very proactive in making the changes required to ensure practice across the whole nursery continues to improve and that children’s development is given high priority.”
It also stated that children are engaged in purposeful play and are supported by staff to make choices and engage in the activities provided.
It continued: “Having considered all the evidence, the inspector is of the opinion that the setting has taken prompt and effective action to address the points for improvement.”
The next step will be a full inspection.
The nursery directors did not wish to comment until after the inspection.
