A centre in Ilkeston has spoken out to let people know it is still there after rumours circulate that the building was no longer in use.

Cotmanhay and Ilkeston Adult Community Education Centre is worried that people think they are no longer open, after the merging of Bennerley and Ilkeston schools has caused confusion over which of the buildings are closing.

The centre, based in one of the former Bennerley School buildings at the corner of Bennerley Avenue and Cotmanhay Road, in Cotmanhay, has reassured the town of its presence.

Programme manager Carol Parry said that since Bennerley School closed, she had been aware of rumours that the centre was also closing.

She said: “This is not the case, we are very much open for business and enrolling for an exciting programme of courses starting in September.”

A range of new courses will begin, including assertiveness and yogalates.
