A summer fair will be held at Stanton Road Cemetery on Saturday.
The fair has been organised by the Friends of Stanton Road Cemetery and will take place between 1pm and 3pm when a range of activities will be on offer for all the family.
It will include guided walks around the cemetery when visitors will discover more about the history of the Victorian burial ground - which includes the grave of Samuel Taylor, the famous Ilkeston Giant, and an impressive wood-carved statue which stands in his honour.
Also lined up at the Erewash Borough Council-owned cemetery is music during the event courtesy of the Derby Serenaders band.
The afternoon attractions will include a garden plants stall, a chance to get close to birds of prey refreshments and the chance to chat to members of the friends’ group and the Ilkeston and District Local History Society.
The deputy mayor of Erewash, Councillor Val Custance, will officially open the summer fair at the cemetery in Ilkeston at 1pm.
