Police say they are not linking an armed robbery in Long Eaton with an attempted robbery in Ilkeston (see page seven) despite them happening on the same day.

A robber, armed with a knife, stole cash from the till behind the counter of a Long Eaton shop.

The masked man walked into Wellington Store, in Wellington Street, at 1.10pm on Monday.

He pulled out the knife and demanded money from the shop worker before walking behind the counter and helping himself to cash before running off.

The female assistant was unhurt in the incident and described the raider as white, around 5ft 9ins tall and slim.

He was wearing a grey tracksuit and had his face covered by a scarf.
