An Ilkeston-born author is celebrating the release of the final instalment of his four-book series, The Mystical Saga in the Stone.
Author Graham Adams, 70, finished writing his latest book, The Secret in the Scroll, in January but it has now gone on sale.
All four titles The Stone, Lewi’s Legacy, The Serpent’s Eye and his final book have been accepted by Derbyshire libraries for distribution and have also seen success over Amazon in Kindle formats.
The author now lives with his wife in the New Forest in Hampshire where his books are set and has taken many of his inspirations from his life, which started in Ilkeston.
“All four books have a mystical suspense theme,” said Graham.
“You can never really plan where a book is going to go and when I came to writing the end of the final book, an amazing thing happened - two of my characters stopped in a town called Chalons-en-Champagne which I was shocked to find was twinned with Ilkeston. The whole series has come full circle.”
Graham began plans to write after retiring as an accountant. He finished working as a DJ on a pirate radio station based at the Fort in the Thames Estuary, near Kent in 1964 and after writing about his experiences for the radio’s website, friends suggested he write a book.
He said: “I remember starting to write in longhand in my local pub in December 2010 and having a manuscript ready in February,
“It’s lovely to have something tangible to show for my efforts, with the pleasure of writing, having worked in offices most of my life.”
