Burglary remains top of the list of public safety concerns for people living in Long Eaton, a recent survey has revealed.
A poll carried out in the town showed that residents are more concerned about criminals breaking into their homes than any other crime and would like police to prioritise this type of offending. A total of 39 per cent of respondents voted burglary as their biggest worry followed by ‘child abuse and child exploitation’ at 37 per cent.
Derbyshire’s police and crime commissioner Alan Charles said: “Burglary rates have fallen significantly over the past decade but householders continue to worry about this type of offending more than any other. My job is to ensure the force continues to tackle burglary proactively with both covert and overt operations but that we also address the fear of this offending with community reassurance patrols.”
