An online petition has been set up to get a crossing on a Stapleford danger road.
Cllr Richard MacRae is collecting signatures after concerned residents tipped him off about the problems on Pasture Road.
He said: “It’s terrible there and something needs to be done before there is an accident.
“It is a very busy road and with it being right outside Albany School it is used a lot so any help that can be given to make it safe has to be a good idea.
“As Stapleford North Ward Councillor for the area I get more and more contact from concerned residents who want to see action taken.”
A crossing patrol is in place outside the school but Richard is rallying Nottinghamshire County Council and says more needs to be done.
He added: “My concern is during the holidays we have no crossing in place for children to cross safely to get to numerous play parks in our area.”
