A Cossall graphics business is celebrating after securing a major deal to supply advertising on Nottingham’s trams.
F1 Graphics, based on Solomon Park, applied for the contract in late April and has now been given the go-ahead to start work.
“It’s a very significant contract for us,” said Dave Long, 37, the company’s media signage and print manager.
“The fact that we’ve won this contract means we’ve been able to establish a new division called F1 media.”
Founded in 2007 by businessman Darren Ware, F1 Graphics will find advertisers, create designs and produce external graphics for the city’s extending tram network.
Dave said: “Previously a different agency would find the clients. Our bid was successful because we can manage the whole process.”
F1 Graphics, a specialist in large-format graphics and PVC banners, has secured the deal on an initial three-year contract.
The contract can be potentially extended by two years, and Dave believes a fresh approach to advertising will be crucial in improving revenues.
He said: “We think tram visuals have become boring and complacent, most people don’t even notice the adverts on trams now.
“When we placed the bid we made sure to highlight our overall approach. We emphasised that we wanted to bring innovation and excitement back into graphics.
“One of our first trams was the winter tram which was wrapped in white with winter graphics - it looked new and eye catching. We want to keep these ideas going and bring the wow factor back to trams.”
