A Stapleford toddler has started her NHS-funded treatment for a rare cancer form in the United States.
David Barsby, grandfather of two-year-old Bethany Topley told how things were now running smoothly following a complication with the toddler’s IV line and a bout of Chicken Pox.
The ‘Tiser have previously reported on the family’s attempts to raise money for the family inluding Bethany’s five-year-old brother, Caine, to be sent out to the US together.
Her grandfather, who works for Stapleford’s Ambulance service, gave thanks to those involved in raising money following donations of £100 from ambulance service staff and £500 by the Stapleford, Sandiacre & District Ladies Darts League.
“Everyone’s been so supportive, we’ve had anonymous donations of everything from £10 to £50, it’s overwhelming.”
Stapleford Community Group have also set up a fund, donations can be made by visiting: www.gofundme.com
