BREAKING NEWS: Ilkeston Murder probe launched; Alleged victim named locally

Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman died in hospital last night.

The victim has tonight been named locally as Angela Ward.

Tributes were starting to be left on her Facebook profile tonight after news broke this morning that she died in at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham last night.

Cops were called to flats on Critchley Street in Ilkeston at 9pm on Sunday May 4 where paramedics were treating a 27-year-old woman for injuries. She died shortly after being rushed to hospital.

A 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody today.

The woman’s family have been informed of her death but she has not been formally identified.

An incident room has been set up and a Home Office pathologist will carry out a post mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
