A teenager was rushed to hospital yesterday after impaling himself on a garden fork.
The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance were called after the boy sustained the traumatic injury at his home in Kirk Hallam.
The 13-year-old was treated at the scene by a crew from East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) who then called for the air ambulance.
When they landed at the scene, just before 2pm, the fork was still in the patient’s arm.
The crew administered advanced pain relief as well as antibiotics before the boy was taken by land ambulance to Royal Derby Hospital.
