Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry took her role as Defence Minister to a new level on Tuesday as she broke up a fight in a Westminster sandwich shop.
She was buying a coffee at the Pret a Manger shop at around 7am when she came across a drunk man trying to attack two members of staff.
The MP broke up the fight as she threw herself in front of the man, telling him to stop, before blocking him in his attempts to get at the staff members again.
Anna told The Sun newspaper: “I just shouted at the drunk guy, ‘stop it, stop it now’ and I put myself between them.”
She said only afterwards did she think that it wasn’t the ‘brightest thing to do’.
