Kirk Hallam Social Club could be given a new lease of life if plans to host a youth club there get off the ground.
Cllr John Frudd says that the area is lacking a youth facility and there is nowhere that young people can spend time safely and off the streets.
He has put forward the idea and is in the process of getting a steering group set up to make it happen.
He told the Advertiser: “The social club isn’t our only option but it is definitely one of them.
“It’s very spacious and would be a great base and they are happy to not serve alcohol one night a week when the club is taking place.
“We are also thinking about a permanent caravan somewhere, or the old changing rooms at Windsor Crescent.
“We want to have a youth facility and the social club would be a good option as we want to try and create a bit of a community hub and the owners there are on board.
“The area is lacking somewhere for young people to spend their time.
“It’s something that will improve the area and we want to see it get sorted as soon as we can.”
