A Cotmanhay community group held their annual schools football match despite torrential rain.
The match, on July 8, kicked off on Pavilion playing fields in Cotmanhay between Cotmanhay Junior School and Granby Junior School.
Granby took home the winners’ cup, with all of the players receiving medals for taking part.
Community group Action4Cotmanhay were responsible for arranging the match and provided free drinks and food for around 80 spectators.
Events manager John Allen said: “We would like to thank Erewash Borough Council for the excellent facilities and Ilkeston Juniors Football Club for help in training and all their help on the evening.”
The group wanted people to go home feeling they’d put something positive back into the area.
He added: “Thanks also to both schools and all the players that took part and indeed the spectators that make it a good evening for us all.”
