A 24-year-old woman had to be cut out of her car and taken to hospital by air ambulance after a head on collision in Stanley Village this morning.

The incident, which happened on Station Road at just before 8am, involved the woman’s Peugeot 208 and a Ford Transit van.

The woman was treated for neck and back injuries at the scene before the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance flew her to the Queen’s Medical Centre.

A police spokesman said her injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Two 26-year-old men who were in the van suffered cuts and bruises.

The road was closed from 8.15am and re-opened two hours later.
