Vandals have daubed offensive graffiti on a recently refurbished skatepark in Ilkeston.
The swear words, which cannot be published, were scrawled across ramps, benches and panels at the park in the Shipley View estate, close to Abbotsford Community Centre.
Owner Erewash Borough Council is appealing for help in finding those responsible for the vandalism which has been described as ‘crude’ and ‘offensive’.
The skatepark will now have to be refurbished again, with the council hoping to complete the work as soon as possible.
The vandalism was discovered after the spring Bank Holiday weekend and has been reported to the police, who are investigating the attack and researching possible graffiti ‘tags’ that might help track down those responsible.
Councillor Mike Wallis, the council’s lead member for culture and leisure, said: “This vandalism is an utter disgrace and I know local residents, along with the responsible skateboarders who use this facility, will share our anger.”
