A nine-year-old Jacksdale schoolboy, one of the Awsworth-based Team Revolution School of Dancing’s newest recruits, has achieved a stunning success in what was only his fifth competition.

Archie Dobbin (pictured), a pupil at Jacksdale Primary, was competing in the beginners classes of the Quay West Championships in Wales and was considered to be the rank outsider in the face of opposition from older and more experienced dancers.

The modest youngster dazzled the judging panel with his impressive routines to qualify for the grand finals dance off which brought together the seven winners from each age category.

Much to the delight of Team Revolution’s dance principal Nichola Buckley and fellow team members , Archie gave a flawless performance to earn the title of the Beginners’ Freestyle Solo Winner.

Clutching two of the competition’s prestigious prizes young Archie said “ I have learnt so much since joining Team Revolution a few months ago. I am thrilled to be a winner against the odds especially as the dancers I was competing against were all older than me”.
