A schoolgirl from Ilkeston who had her hair cut for the first time to raise cash for a children’s cancer charity, has collected more than £400.
Demi Meakin, seven, decided to have her flowing locks trimmed and send the hair to the Little Princess Trust, which specialises in providing wigs for children affected by cancer.
Cotmanhay Junior School pupil Demi and her mum, Sandra, had their hair cut while on a family holiday at Easter.
Dad Colin said: “To date Demi has raised £400 but she still wants to reach her £1,000 target. Her hair and Sandra’s has been sent off to the charity to make wigs.
“We’re really proud of Demi’s efforts and the fact she decided to do this herself and would love her to raise all of the money.”
