Work has started on a new development of affordable, energy-efficient homes thanks to a new regeneration programme.
The development of 40 family homes on Town Street in Sandiacre is funded by the Homes and Communities Agency in partnership with Erewash Borough Council and part of a programme by housing provider EMH, which have been developing across Erewash since 2011.
Each house has been designed to the highest environmental standards and will be given high levels of insulation to lower costs for future tenants.
Councillor Carol Hart, lead member for community engagement for Erewash Borough Council, said the development would help to meet the housing need for people in the borough.
She added: “The high building specification will mean the homes have a very low carbon footprint.”
Work is set to be completed on the properties, which will be available to local people, towards the end of 2014, Those interested in applying should contact EMH homes on 0300 123 6000.
