Elderly couple in hospital after crash

An elderly couple are in hospital this lunchtime after their car hit a tree.

A man aged 83 and a 79-year-old woman were both taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre after their Peugeot 205 collided with a tree on Park Road at 10.40am this morning.

A police spokesman said: “The couple were both taken to hospital after the incident with injuries that were not thought to be life threatening.”

The road was closed for an hour and another temporary road closure was put in place while the car was recovered and glass and oil were removed from the road.
