Families are back home and roads have re-opened following a fire at a garage on the Woodlinkin bypass, near Langley Mill.

The huge blaze broke out at Woodlinkin Citroen Centre last night and re-ignited this morning.

Families were evacuated from Nottingham Road and the A610 was closed in both directions until late morning today, January 30.

A Derbyshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “The road has re-opened and the residents are back in their properties.

“It is still not known what caused the fire. The investigation is ongoing.

“The damage was restricted to the workshop and the containers outside.”

Firefighters from Ilkeston, Ripley, Heanor, Crich, Alfreton, and Belper, spent four hours tackling the flames last night when the incident was first reported at 8.30pm last night.
