Motorists visiting Ilkeston town centre will have to pay for parking again as of Friday after the 24-hour free Christmas parking scheme comes to an end.
Pay and Display measures will be back in force from Saturday.
Erewash Borough Council provided round-the-clock free parking in its car parks between December 16 and January 3 in an attempt to give a boost to both traders and shoppers in the borough during the busy Christmas and New Year season.
Parking now reverts back to the trial scheme in which free parking is available in the council’s car parks from 6pm to 10am daily.
The trial, which also includes free 30-minute parking bays in selected car parks, is currently being reviewed.
