More than 100kg of food was collected by fitness fanatics at an Ilkeston gym for the town’s food bank.

Gym goers at Curves, on the Booths industrial estate donated the produce for the Arena food bank instead of paying a sign up fee.

The month long collection resulted in a total of 116 kg of groceries being donated.

Owner Sally Peacock said: “It is important to us to support our local community and once again our members have been so generous with their donations.

“Our motto is that strong women make strong families which make strong communities and I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated to this fantastic organisation that support our local families in times of crisis.

“We welcome all our new members and encourage more local ladies to take that important first step in taking care of their health by walking in the door. This is a safe place to exercise and we have expert coaches in exercise, nutrition and behaviour change

to help you achieve your goals.

“To be able to offer all that and help a local charity such as the Arena Food Bank is something we are very proud of.”
