More than 1,000 people were given the chance to browse job opportunities as Erewash MP Jessica Lee held her third and final annual jobs fair before she stands down.

The fair took place in the Obolensky Building, at Trent College, Long Eaton.

There were hundreds of jobs, apprenticeships and training opportunities available.

Speaking about the event, Jessica said: “It was great to see so many people attending this year. Thanks, in particular, to the sponsors and the exhibitors for making the day possible.”

Youngsters on work experience with Erewash Borough Council helped out at the event, where a wide range of jobs and opportunities were available in fields from furniture and upholstery to engineering, healthcare and retail.

Jessica said: “One of the exhibitors has contacted me since to say that they had registered 20 people on their books and had successfully interviewed two people to start work immediately.

“It’s great to get this instant feedback. I often say that the best thing anyone can do for somebody is to give them a job and give them an opportunity. That’s why organising a jobs fair is so rewarding.”
