The man charged with the murder of Ilkeston woman Angela Ward, has appeared at court this week.
Ian Meakin, 48, of Critchley Street, Ilkeston, attended Nottingham Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.
He has been remanded in custody to attend a plea and directions hearing in August.
A provisional trial date has been arranged for November 10.
It is scheduled to last for two weeks.
Meakin is accused of killing 27-year-old Angela, also of Critchley Street.
Police were called to the flats on Sunday May 7, where Miss Ward was found injured.
She was taken to hospital and died a short time later.
Tributes were paid to Angela following her death.
A family statement said: “To our much-loved daughter Angela, who will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
“Never forgotten, you were taken too soon from us.”
