Youngsters from the Ilkeston Army Cadet Force were given a behind-the-scenes insight into local policing during a special tour of the town’s police station.
The group, aged between 12 and 18 years, visited Ilkeston Police Station on Heanor Road to gain a better understanding of the different roles involved in the policing service.
The visit was arranged by PCSO Sam Sanders from the Larklands and Gallows policing team.
He said: “We talked though a step by step process of what happens when someone gets arrested and comes into custody, which they found really interesting.
“We also gave some crime prevention advice onusing a cash machine safely and the need to be alert when they are using their mobile phone.
PCSO Sanders added: “There were lots of questions which were positive - I’m pleased to say the visit was a success.”
The group were also accompanied by 2nd Lieutenant Paul Hatfield and Adult Under Officer Hannah Anderson.
