Jobs club to help reduce unemployment

New job clubs are set to start to help tackle unemployment in Stapleford

New job clubs are set to start to help tackle unemployment in Stapleford

Job seekers will benefit from a new group in Stapleford set up by Broxtowe Borough Council.

The fortnightly club will launch on Friday March 31 with free meetings set to take place at the Stapleford Library.

Regular sessions will focus on building contacts, editing CVs and practicing interview techniques to enable visitors to work on their employability skills.

Guest speakers will also attend special events which will be arranged throughout the year.

This will be the first work club to be launched in the Broxtowe borough as employment rates in Stapleford stand above average against Nottinghamshire’s statistics.

Liam Raines, 28, of Stapleford has been unemployed for seven months and welcomed the new group.

“It’s not just about being told how to find jobs but making sure we have the right skills too,” he said.

“It’s good to see the council getting involved in helping us out.”
