A 30-year-old woman was taken to hospital after being injured in a road traffic collision in Awsworth this morning.

She sustained serious injuries to her lower body in the crash, which happened at the juction of Newton’s Lane and Gin Close Way first thing on Thursday (February20).

East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) were first on the scene, but requested the attendance of Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).

DLRAA were called out just before 8am and arrived at the scene of the incident in just 12 minutes.

On arrival the crew assisted paramedics in treating the patient before providing her with advanced pain relief.

She was then taken by land ambulance to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for emergency surgery.

The DLRAA doctor travelled alongside the patient to monitor her condition.

Her current condition is unknown.
