Strike action by teachers is set to cause widespread disruption today.
Members of the National Union of Teachers are staging a 24-hour protest against excessive workloads, pension changes and suggestions for performance related pay in hopes that negotiation talks can recommence with Education Secretary Michael Gove.
Not all schools are scheduled to close but some could face disruptions.
Teachers do not have to notify their schools of their intentions to strike and schools are not obliged to report their closure to local authorities therefore, parents in doubt should contact their child’s school for full details.
Keep posted on local school closures and disruptions as they’re updated here:
Cotmanhay Infant School - the entire is school closed due to industrial action.
St John Hougton Catholic School - the school will be closed for years seven, eight and nine but year 11 pupils should attend school as normal.
