The camera is primed and the time has arrived for the photo shoots for this year’s Pet of the Year contest.
Once again the competition is being run jointly by the Advertiser, Chambers’ Pet Supplies and John Booth Photography, both of which are based on Bath Street in the town.
The first part of the contest will be a series of photo shoots at Chambers where owners can take along their magnificent moggies, perfect pooches and more unusual pets.
For the full dates and times, see below.
Everyone who enters must fill in one of the entry coupons featured in this week’s edition of the paper.
Once all the photos have been taken they will appear in the Advertiser and then readers will get the chance to vote.
Gavin Chambers said: “Last year was a fantastic success and we are hoping for better this year.
“We saw many types of animals last time so we are expecting to see a wide range of pets coming along to our store. It’s an amazing opportunity to have photos taken of your pets, fast and hassle free with the chance of prizes at the end. Plus everyone will have the opportunity to buy their prints there and then with no need to book in or pay for slots.”
John Booth said: “I am looking forward to the Pet of the Year competition. This year we have decided not to do the shoots only on a Saturday as we had many people saying they work Saturdays and could not get to last year’s competition.
“So we are going to be set up in Chambers Pet Supplies on a few Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout July.”
The dates for the Pet of the Year photo shoots are:
Friday July 4 (10am to 3pm), Saturday July 5 (10am to 5 pm), Sunday July 6 (10 am to 1.30 pm), Saturday July 12 (10 am to 3pm), Sunday July 13 (10 am to 1.30 pm), Saturday July 19 (10am to 5 pm); Friday July 25 (10am to 5pm) and Sunday July 27 (10am to 1.30 pm).
Once all the votes have been cast a top three will be announced.
Third place will receive a £20 voucher from Chambers and £20 voucher from John Booth Photography; second place will scoop a £30 voucher from each of the sponsors; and the top pet will win a £50 voucher from each of the sponsors. All three will also win a framed print of their entry photo.
