I was disappointed to be at my parents’ home in Cornwall when the grand opening of the new Derby College campus in Ilkeston was happening, I had arranged to visit the Pimlico campus on my return.
I would like to extend my thanks to the college staff-through your newspaper if I may.
The warm welcome, the informative tour and the knowledge that neighbouring residents were first to be welcomed over the threshold of the new college building was all very good news to me and gratefully accepted, especially since the college have listened to suggestions of residents and will be offering exercise sessions to the wider community.
After serving previously on the South East Derbyshire College Board, I am delighted that we did not lose this facility and Ilkeston can continue to offer our young people several local further educational choices, promoting sustainable travel and helping to reduce the carbon footprint.
