I was very interested to read of the thousands of homeowners affected by the recent notices placed by the Duke of Rutland on homes in Ilkeston. I have a property in Ilkeston and I, too, have received such a notice.
I applied to the Land Registry to cancel the notice and have received a reply from them stating that the Duke of Rutland has opposed my application. If I wish to continue further with the matter, I will incur legal costs.
I wonder if you could please put me in touch with any other homeowners who have been affected so that I may determine their courses of action and what the consensus of opinion is.
I think the least that the Duke of Rutland can do is offer to pay for indemnity policies to protect homeowners as, when a property is sold, the prospective purchaser will demand an indemnity policy which will have to be paid for by the seller!
