Letter: Trail was like a rubbish tip

letters

letters

I was resident of Ilkeston for over thirty years and on Saturday December 21 I was walking in the area principally on the Nutbrook Trail and was saddened to see how much rubbish there was on the trail. My walk finished at Victoria Park and I was appalled to see the amount of rubbish there, broken bottles, drinks cans, fast food containers etc. The council may blame cuts in central Government funding for the lack of rubbish collection but two hours work by a single person would have solved the problem of unsightly mess.It may be that councilors and residents have other priorities at this time of year but it has a bad reflection upon the town and gives the impression of complacency and total disregard for cleanliness.
