A distraught Ilkeston family took part in a sponsored walk this to raise funds for a charity that looks into the condition that killed their son and brother.
Richard Shaw was 47 when he died. An inquest found that the married dad-of-two had suffered sudden adult death.
On Sunday his mum Molly, sister Wendy and dad Vic, took part in the Heart of London Bridges Walk. They estimate they have raised more than £1,100 for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
Vic said: “It was a very emotional day but we all really enjoyed it.
“Walking around and seeing the photographs and names on people’s t-shirts there were some really young people affected by this, some were just 11 and 12 years old, another was only 21.
“It made us realise we were lucky to have Richard in our lives for 47 years.”
