Delighted dog owners were relieved this week when their prized pooch Max was returned to them after a mix up.

Danny and Anna Brown, both 72, were devastated when they lost Max, a tan and white beagle cross, while out walking near to their Cossall home.

The couple heard that their pet had been picked up by a dog warden and taken to Babbington Rescue Centre, Awsworth, but when they enquired they found he had already been re-homed.

Danny explained: “A few people said they thought Max was there so I went down and described him but somehow wires got crossed and it was assumed we were talking anout a different dog.

“Eventually he was taken in by a new family.

“We were devastated, we were losing sleep, it wsa like a member of the family had just disappeared.

“we’d started to think we’d never see him again.

Determined not to give up his fight Danny again contacted Babbington who realised their error and returned Max to his rightful home.

Danny said: “When he saw me he was all excited and jumped up me, licking my face , he was pleased to be back.

“He seemed a little confused to start with but he’s settling in again now.”

Anna added: “We’ve had him for eight years so for him to just be gone was horrible.

“We’re so relieved he is back home now, we really missed him.

“As soon as Babbington realised they sorted everything.”
