Men arrested after hockey stick attack

Two man have been arrested after an alleged assault in Cotmanhay in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Derbyshire Police confirmed that the incident took place at 2.20am on Sunday June 15 in Tunnicliffe Court, Vernon Street.

It is believed a hockey stick may have been used as a weapon.

Two victims — aged 20 and 21 — were taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) in Nottingham for treatment.

A police spokesman said: “There was a disagreement in the street. Two men got assaulted and were taken to the QMC.

“Two men were arrested, a 22-year-old and a 23-year-old.

“A weapon was used but we can’t confirm what it was.”

The men were arrested on suspicion of assault and police are continuing with their inquiries.
