‘Exceptional weather’ is set to hit areas of the UK tonight and at the start of next week according to the Environment Secretary Owen Paterson.
High winds and flooding are expected across the country and the Environment Agency has issued a series of flood and severe weather warnings.
Although there are no flood warnings in place for the River Erewash residents are still being told to prepare for 45mph winds and heavy rain.
Drivers are being urged to take extra care on the area’s roads.
