Questions are being asked after the death of a cyclist who was found unconscious at the side of the road.
Police were called to the scene after a 49-year-old man was discovered at 10am yesterday (Sunday April 27) by the side of the road at No Man’s Lane between the Potato Pit Lane junction.
After being taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, he was pronounced dead.
The cause of his death is currently unknown but a spokesman for Derbyshire Police said that there was no evidence to suggest that his bicycle had been hit by another vehicle.
He added: “We do not believe there are currently any suspicious circimstances behind the death.
“A post mortem examination is due to be carried out later this week to determine the cause of death.”
Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward by contacting 101.
