A former Royal Navy veteran who has championed the cause of his local community in Awsworth for many years has had his third book about the village he is proud of published, with the proceeds from sales going to support a local school.
Bryan Maloney, 73, of Abbot Street,Awsworth, has been described as “a jack of all trade and master of most”, and the former furniture upholsterer who worked for Beauvale Furnishers for 33-years is delighted that “ Awsworth the Sequel” ( unproofed) has been released for publication.
Bryan who served on aircraft carriers and commando carriers during his ten year Naval career, released his first book “ A History of Awsworth in 2009, and followed up with “ Awsworth Through Time” in 2011.
His latest work, which is now on sale, is a photographic history charting Awsworth’s illustrious past providing an insight into the changing face of the village which his close to his heart.
A familiar face in Awsworth, Bryan is vice-chairman of the Parish Council, is a Life President and founder of the local history society, and Chairman of Awsworth Village Hall management committee, and just for good measure holds office as Chairman of Cossall Parish Council.
“ Awsworth the Sequel” is filled with a fascinating collection of old photographs which have been kindly loaned and submitted by local people.” he said.
