Nationwide building society on Bath Street is the latest place to sign up to the ‘Tiser’s Feed Our Families campaign as a drop-off point.

The building society on Bath Street will be collecting tinned goods, pasta, rice, jars and other foods as Christmas edges closer. This in turn will be presented to the food bank run by the Arena in town.

Nationwide Branch manager, Karen Hill said: “We have very strong community values at Nationwide and one of the ways that we show that is by getting on board with local projects.

“We’d seen about the fantastic campaign that the Avertiser is running for such a deserving cause so we wanted to get involved.

“Hopefully our customers and anyone else who wants to pop in are generous with their donations and we can do our bit to help.”

Donations have been coming in thick and fast at the Advertiser office but there is still time to drop off anything you can to help make sure people in our town don’t go hungry this Christmas.

Items that have been dropped off will be handed over to the Arena in the next couple of weeks ready to go in their Christmas food parcels.

Arena operations manager Julie Turner said: “We have been amazed at the amount of support we’ve had as a result of the Advertiser’s campaign.

“We can’t thank readers and other members of the community enough for what they have helped us do.

“We really value everyone’s support.”

As well as Nationwide, donations can also be dropped off at Ilkeston Library, the town’s Citizens’ Advice Bureau, the Advertiser office on Heanor Road and the Arena itself.

Tiser editor Martin Hutton said: “The response has been brilliant so far.

“As Christmas decorations spring up, let’s give it one final push so we can benefit locals this festive season.”
