New Year thanks for town’s volunteers

Mayor of Amber Valley John Nelson has predicted a grim financial outlook for 2013 and thanked communities for their help through the tough times.

“I wish I had a magic wand to make things better,” he said “But I am afraid it looks like it will be austere times for the next few years. I wish everybody could win the lottery! We all want better things for everyone - I am afraid we will all have to bite the bullet.

“No matter what their politics everybody is trying to do their best - the communities are still there. There are such a lot of voluntary groups we would be in a lot of trouble without them.”
