An Ilkeston nurse has helped organise an event that will see a team run in nine European countries to help boost funds raised by three men for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Dave Nunn, a mental health nurse based at Brooklands in Park Avenue, has organised a team to take part in the Euro Marathon this month.
The marathon will involve running a distance of 26.6 miles within nine different countries in 24 hours.
It will see 32 runners cover 5k in Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria and Italy.
After each run they will pile back into minibuses and on to the next country.
The event aims to boost the fundraising efforts of three men who are taking part in a range of event this year to raise funds for the MNDA charity.
Dave, who has worked in Ilkeston for 15 years, said: “We will be supporting three incredible men as part of a bigger, year long campaign. John Collins, his brother Pete and their friend Ant Oxley are planning to run or cycle 2014 miles in 2014 and hope to raise £30,000 for MNDA in doing so.”
Members of Shelton Striders running club will be taking part.
