The Chairman of Stapleford Community group has expressed his outrage at a Broxtowe Borough councillors plea to pledge taxpayers money into the Nottingham Playhouse.
Richard McRae, who is also a Stapleford town councillor said he thought the motion, suggested by Councillor Stan Heptinstall, was wrong.
“The Playhouse is a wonderful place but it falls under the city councils boundaries
“We have community centres in Stapleford and youth clubs which need more attention,” he said.
He added: “If the council are going to start charging us for garden waste collections, how can they afford to fork out for something which should be a city initative?”
Other residents have taken to social media to express their disagreement stating that the boroughs money should stay within borough boundaries.
Councillor Stan Heptinstall, also a County councillor for Stapleford made the representation at a Broxtowe Borough council meeting last week following the County council’s decision to cut funding for the theatre.
