Proud Cestrefeldians are urged to show their support for the Spireites at Wembley by painting the town blue.

Ahead of the March 30 Johnstone’s Paint trophy Final against Peterborough, the community is asked to back Chesterfield FC by decking out the town in team colours.

“Excitement is high across Chesterfield with Wembley in their sights” said Ben Wilde, brand and sponsorship manager for Johnstone’s Paint – who are making the call.

“Painting the town blue is a fantastic way for the whole community to come together and show their support.

“We are asking everyone to take on the spirit of the competition and adorn the town/city using anything blue they can find – no decoration is too little or too much.

“It would be great to see shops and businesses backing the team by putting on blue displays in their windows and offices and schools taking part in non-uniform days to allow children to dress in blue.”

On Thursday, March 20, Johnstone’s Paint have called on residents, businesses, workplaces and schools to show their allegiance to Paul Cook’s league-topping side.

Johnstone’s Paint are inviting participants to share their pictures on Twitter using #paintthetownblue or on the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Facebook page.

Don’t forget to also send your snaps to pictures@derbyshiretimes.co.uk or upload them to Instagram or Twitter.
