Staff and pupils at Michael House School are busy planning a programme of events for the months leading up to the school’s 80th anniversary in September.
Sigrid Black, member of the core team for planning the 80th anniversary and handwork and learning support teacher, said “It’s very exciting to be planning a year of activities and talks for the 80th; there are so many skills, talents and a wealth of knowledge within the current and past school community.”
An ideas open day was held in January at the school in Shipley with pupils and parents suggesting a 1980s themed disco and a birthday party planned for September 9.
Other projects underway also include an 80th anniversary wall hanging designed and created by class 7 pupils which will hang in the reception area of the school.
Parent Eva McKenna said: “We all love the school and the community spirit.
“The teachers are dedicated to their work with the children and the rich extra-curricular life of the school is as much a feature as the timetable celebrating the changes through the year I see every day he unfolding in my children of the strength and balance they have developed from their experience at Michael House.”
