A West Hallam mum-of-two fed up with online auction sites and car boots has set up her own business letting people sell their second hand stuff.

Joanne Brown, 35, set up JojJo’s events after she got fed up of early morning starts for car boots and problems with buyers on Ebay.

She said: “ I just kept thinking their must be another way of selling unwanted items without getting up at the crack of dawn and forever emailing people asking them to pay up for things they’ve bid on.

“I decided to start hiring out halls and inviting sellers as well as local independent businesses to come along and set up stalls.”

Jo, who used to organise charity events, set up as a business after her first few events were successful.

She said: “I think people enjoy it because they can come along, have a nice cuppa and biscuits and have a browse around.

“We have local firms come along selling handmade cards, crafts, cakes and cosmetics as well as people selling their unwanted items.

“I always make sure sellers bring good quality items, the only rule is that people bring things that they would be happy to buy themselves.”
