Shopkeeper in hospital after attack by raiders

The shopkeeper of Londis convenience store in Awsworth is in hospital after he was attacked by three raiders.

The men entered the shop on Lawrence Avenue at just after 9pm on Tuesday (20 May 2014).

The victim was hit him over the head with an unknown implement and the robbers fled with cigarettes. There were no customers in the shop at the time of the attack.

The 31-year-old victim was taken to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The shop was closed while forensic examination took place. The scene was released at just after 12.30pm.
