Ilkeston’s Sir Dave Brailsford(pictured) has urged Tour De France organisers to ensure the event comes back to Britain.
The biggest crowds in the race’s 101-year history turned out for the first two stages in Yorkshire at the weekend.
And the streets were lined again when the third day saw riders travel from Cambridge to London.
Sir Dave, manager of Team Sky, said: “The crowds were amazing.
“There was an unbelievable amount of people who came out to watch the race and they’ve done our country proud. It was a privilege to race in front of them.
“For us it was good not only from a race point of view but also for the sport again in this country and we thank everybody who made the effort.”
