An Ilkeston taxi firm has merged with another company in a bid to breathe new life into the industry.
With more than 60 years of business experience between them, Ilkeston-based Double Four and Kimberley-based A2B have teamed up in a bid to become the ‘go-to’ firm.
The idea of the merger came after both firms were struggling to cope with customer demand.
Danny Holmes, operations director at A2B, which has offices throughout Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, said: “The merger will mean we can take on more work at busy periods.
“At the weekend, we are extremely stretched, so increasing the number of vehicles available to us will mean we can cater for more customers.
“It is a boost not just for us but for the Ilkeston area and, in our view, something that was needed.”
A2B already works with hospitals and businesses in the area to offer a specialised service to patients and will bring that into the merger.
A 24-hour call centre and a recent investment of more than £300,000 in the latest booking and dispatch technology ensure is aimed at making dure the cab firms meet the needs of customers.
