Teachers at Ormiston Ilkeston Enterprise Academy have been inspired by Derby County boss Steve McClaren to deliver motivational team talks to students facing exams.
Years 11, 12 and 13 will be given a rallying call by their teachers directly before each of their GCSE or A-level exams in the coming weeks.
Staff hope the talks will help to bring out the best in pupils.
Joel Smith, assistant principal for achievement at OIEA, came up with the idea based on team talks delivered by managers at sporting events.
Mr Smith said: “I just wanted to come up with something different that we could do to boost students’ confidence right before they walk into their exams.
“I thought about the kind of team talks that are delivered by managers at sporting events, such as Steve McClaren at Derby County.
“I really want to get the students over the line in terms of their results and we will do whatever we can to help them achieve their best.
“Hopefully Derby County will win the play-off final and our students will get the results they want too.
“I will be delivering a team talk before the History exam and I will put a past exam paper up on a big screen and tell them that this is what they will be facing in the next few hours but it’s what they have been studying all year.
“I am also an examiner so I will give them a few hints and tips.”
